THE MET DOES IT AGAIN

The Met really is great at selecting artists to create unique and highly evocative/appropriate installations for their summer rooftop installation.  While I did not have the pleasure of visiting the rooftop this year (yes, I do die a little inside when saying this), the installation called Cloud City by Tomas Saraceno does look wonderful as always.

Photos courtesy of the Met website (most of these are installation photos, but wow, pretty amazing stuff even before finished installed):

Ummm, love it.  What is better than one amazing view over Central Park, Upper East and West sides?  Many, many, many views all on one rooftop.  Forget the clouds, I love the greenery-framed architecture.  Love.

CHECK OUT UTAH STYLE THIS SEASON

It is always rewarding to be considered an expert of some sort in one's field, and I always enjoy contributing to design publications.  I was lucky enough to be included in Utah Style's Summer 2012 edition.  Please see my small part below, or see the entire issue on newstands or at their website.  Thanks Utah Style!

MY FAVORITE NEUTRAL

It can be so hard to find that perfect neutral, not too cold, not too warm, but when looking for that perfect tint for my own home I was lucky enough to try Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter.  One of their historic colors, it is absolutely the perfect balance between cool and warm.  And as all BM colors, it has great depth and changes color throughout the day with the changing light.  I have used it in a number of projects and it has always looked amazing.

I love this description on the BM website, it really is calming and restoring.  I have always said it feels as if I am gazing into a cloud.  And apparently Candice Olson agrees with my general opinion!

DESIGNERS, CHECK OUT THE ASID MAG THIS MONTH

Hi my designer friends and followers!  If you happen to be members of ASID, I have to brag just a bit, as my name is featured in ICON magazine in the local awards section under the Intermountain chapter.  While I was really hoping for a photo of my project to be featured, I am still pretty darn happy with my name.

And yes, I already bragged about getting award, but hey, why not milk it a bit more.  To see the project, check out this blog!

DOROTHY DRAPER FURNITURE!

I recently came across Kindel Furniture a Grand Rapids furniture manufacturer that has partnered with Careton Varney (master keeper of the Draper legacy) to produce some of the legendary Dorothy Draper's furniture pieces.  I cannot wait to use some of these in a project!  I absolutely love everything, and in particular-
The 88 Camila House Bench

The Scalloped Lamp Table

The Cafe Armchair

And in absolute and iconic Draper fashion, the American Baroque Mirror....love it!

Check out the entire line at Kindel here.
