LOVELY THROW PILLOWS

I am sending these two lovelies off to a client today!  Love the Asian lattice on the subtle textural background and contrast welt in black faux snakeskin!

PROUD COUSIN

I am so in awe of my wonderfully talented cousin (the beauty with the long blond curls), part of the amazing all-female band, Katzenjammer.  They just released a new single, and in addition to loving the song, of course, I was pleasantly surprised to see their new video featuring some great shots of the band surrounded by a wonderful amount of vintage furniture!  So for no other reason, get a peak at a lot of great vintage Norwegian pieces, but enjoy the great music as well!

MATCHING PAIR OF OFFICE CHAIRS ANYONE?

A great find over the holidays, a pair of classic Mid-Century Modern office chairs from Canada. I have not done too much research on these yet, but seems the Doerner company had an affiliation with the Eames' at some point and possibly supplied them with some hardware.  Exciting!

These currently have brass bases with black metal wheel covers, all original, late 1960s.  The bases could be refinished stainless steel or remain brass...still deciding on that one.  The fabric absolutely needs a refresh, but otherwise they are in great shape.  Looking forward to finding the perfect fabric to make this pair much more sophisticated!  Let me know if you would like additional information or want to purchase... and stay tuned for the great unveiling after their transformation!

LECTURE AT WEBER STATE

(Me with the Interior Design faculty at Weber State)

I was happy to accept an invitation to give a lecture to the interior design students at Weber State University in Ogden during my last trip to Utah in early December.  After teaching at the Art Institute in Salt Lake City for three years, I do enjoy getting back in the classroom when I can.  The students at Weber were about to start a project for charity where they reupholster a chair that is auctioned off in the spring.  It is a wonderful project they do each year, and gives the students excellent hands-on experience working with a local upholsterer or refinisher.

I spoke to them about current design trends towards antiques and vintage, with such a strong link emerging between the interior design world and the antiques trade with the huge popularity of sites like 1st Dibs and antiques dealers looking towards a new generation of clients...

And so many high-profile designers like Kelly Wearstler and Jamie Drake mixing antique and modern pieces-

And of course, gave them a few tips and ideas to keep in mind as they embark on their own upholstery adventure!  I wish them all luck and hope I can be there for the auction in the Spring!

Thanks Weber!
